Support worker

Job Description

This position would suit an individual with training/education in Positive Behavior Support and Life skills training to support a capable 24 year old female with FASD, ADHD and a mild intellectual disability to work toward living independently. This individual has no behaviour issues, but would benefit from a structured approach.
The days/hours are flexible currently – week days preferred and between 10-20 hours weekly in our Nanaimo home. Note we have 2 large, friendly dogs.
The work will entail:
* meal planning (from start to finish) with the goal that this young woman can plan, budget, purchase and prepare a number of basic meals
*basic household tasks such as cleaning, laundry etc.
* developing strategies for time management and organizing (some knowledge of executive functioning would be an asset)
*support in an employment search (there is already a job specialist for additional support)
*occasional social activities (so it’s not all work!)

The goal is for this young woman to be able to live independently with little support.
Pay rate is negotiable – $20-25 per hour depending on experience.
Criminal record check and a valid driver’s licence is essential.
