We are looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic, energetic person to work as personal support worker 1 or 2 shifts per week.
This position is an integral member of his team. The shift that is available is Saturday 3 pm to Sunday 3:00 pm and the occasional Monday 7:30am to Tuesday 7:30am. Pay is based on a 24 hr shift. Starting rate is between $275 – $290 depending upon experience.
Our son is a very good natured, ambulatory, easy going 33 year old who has Angelman Syndrome. (www.angelman.org) He has a fantastic sense of humour and loves being with his family and friends. He loves watching his home movies, going for drives and being treated like the Prince he believes he is!
We need you to take him to his scheduled community activities at various locations throughout the city in your dependable vehicle.
Activities include:
– Parkinson Rec Centre programs, cooking, art, drama, bingo
– Low impact exercise classes
– Special Olympics bowling
– Movies and hanging out with his friends
Duties also include continuously working on life skills, communication and planning fun and engaging activities. He lives in his own home so housecleaning, laundry and cooking healthy meals (leaning towards vegetarian/vegan) are required. Working with other members of his support team and family to ensure he has an active and fulfilling life in the community.
Qualities required include patience, reliability, punctuality and the maturity to advocate on his behalf when necessary. Preference will be given to those with experience and/or training in this field but is not a requirement. All members of his team must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
