Looking for neuro-affirming day time engagement support 9 year old

Job Description

Hello!

Looking for someone who knows how to work in ways that are neuro-affirming. If you are an EA or have experience working with autistic PDAers extra great! If this is all new to you, no problem. We’ll give you a rundown and it’ll be all good.

We are wanting someone who can come to our home and engage our 9 year old kiddo for a few hours at a time.
Relationship building first of course but once there is a good connection established and he likes you, lots of things you can all do. (e.g. play soccer, basketball, hockey or baseball with him, get creative with special interest projects, build weird stuff, play video games, got for a walk to get bubble tea etc.)
Our child’s disability is largely invisible but he really enjoys people who are funny, silly, energetic, creative, and who can be authentic with him. Kiddo can sense if someone is apprehensive or anxious.
He is 9 but most of the young adults who have worked with him say he seems more like a 10/11 year old.
Availability:
To start, looking for someone who might be available for two-three hour blocks on some week day afternoons specifically Thursday or Fridays around 12-3 or so.
What is also required:
We are working with a respite agency. If you are a fit for us we would have you onboarded through the respite agency and they would take care of CRC and screen you and be the ones paying you.
Please email if interested. Overview a little bit about you and if your availability works for the hours we’ve named above.
We’ll reach back out if we’re interested in learning more.
We are located near King Edward Ave and Cambie – 5 min walk from King Edward Canada Line stop.

Thank you for your interest.
