Family looking to hire a Respite/Community Support Worker for their daughter

Job Description

We are a North Saanich, BC based family looking for someone to provide respite for our daughter. She is 6 years old, Autistic (PDA), and awaiting assessment for ADHD. She mainly requires social/emotional and regulation support, especially when navigating interactions with other children in the community. She loves being outside, reading, arts and crafts, and has a wonderful imagination.

• Respect for confidentiality and privacy of all individuals

Related Skills and Experience
• CSW with experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or equivalent experience (experience with Autistic girls, especially PDA, a bonus!).
• Neurodiversity-affirming (no ABA practices or approaches!)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, kind, patient, flexible, and reliable
• Comfortable being outdoors and getting involved in “messy play”
• Ability to work independently
• Able to provide safe and caring support

Requirements
• At least 19 years of age
• Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
• Basic Emergency First Aid certification
• Work/character references
• Reliable vehicle and Drivers Abstract required
• Non-smoker

Rate of pay $25/hr (up to $35/hr may be negotiated for the right person and skill set)
Beginning in September 2022 – Wednesdays 9:45-3:00 (plus more TBD if both parties agree)
Prior to September 2022 – TBD but at least a few hours once a week
