Community Support Worker

Job Description

We are looking for a community support worker for our son. This is a part-time position(6 hours per week) with the possibility of increasing hours as time goes by, if you are interested in a greater scope of activities. Our overall goal is to improve our son’s independence and social integration.
The immediate position will consist of 3 hours of respite care either in our home or in the community, and a further 3 hours – escorting this young man on his 1/week paper route on Thursday after 10 am. Our son lives with autism and his greatest challenge is communication. He is gentle-natured and easy to work with.
He is accomplished at his paper route and requires only verbal cueing for newspaper counts and supervision for road safety and social interactions.
Position start date September 2/21 Beginning wage: $22/hour with regular incremental raises every year.
Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is an asset, but on-job training is also possible for a suitable candidate in addition to the expected job familiarization of this position.
