COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER (Langley)
Community Support Worker position for an 8:00-4:00 daytime shift Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. This permanent part-time position provides inclusive social, recreation and volunteer support in the community for a young man with developmental disabilities. B is living with a wonderful and welcoming Home Share family in his community of Langley. He enjoys the company of someone with a good sense of humour. Some of the activities he enjoys are listening to music, movies, walks, going for coffee, playing pool, the driving range, therapeutic horseback riding and painting. B would like to have the support of someone who would assist him to discover new and meaningful recreational and social activities in his community.
Maintaining fulfilling relationships with family, friends and caregivers is important as well as having opportunities to meet new individuals to broaden his social circle. Assistance is needed with some personal care and daily household routines. If you enjoy a variety of activities, have a good sense of humour and are gentle and comfortable with time, this position will be a fit.
Starting salary of $20.50/hr. Comfortable and respectful work environment with a non-profit society (Microboard). Familiarity with the Langley area is preferred.
Applicant must have community support worker experience
Some knowledge of sign language and alternate communication
A good command of the English language
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently
Current First Aid
Criminal Record Search required
Clean drivers abstract required
Use of own vehicle required
