COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION ASSISTANT
We are a North Vancouver family looking for a fun, energetic, sports-oriented support person to assist our son to participate in active recreation and community activities. Our son is 32 and has Down syndrome; he is very fun-loving and likes to have a busy day with predictable routines.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are hiring for Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 am to 5 pm. The pay is $23 per hour plus reimbursement for mileage expenses. You will assist our son to participate in active recreation and community involvement. Ability to ski or snowboard and rollerblade preferred. Must be able to swim and skate. Other aspects of the job include teaching life skills and taking photos to maintain iPad photo communication books.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Comfortable with athletics and able to support our son to improve skills and fitness. Activities include swimming, skating, rollerblading, skiing, biking and gym; he also attends yoga and spin classes.
• Good social role model.
• Experienced or interested in gaining experience working with people with developmental disabilities
• Fully licensed and have your own car (mileage will be paid).
