Community Inclusion Worker

Job Description

Facilitate and support participation of adult woman with developmental disability in the community; assist her to further develop her skills (using transit, engaging in group activities, going out in community) and strengthening friendships.
Work could include exploring her interest in the arts, facilitating her participation in activities related to fitness and health, assisting engagement with peers through inclusive activities, expanding skills of independence (personal and public safety, using public transportation, communicating through technology), assisting her adherence to health guidelines and attendance at medical appointments, supporting maintenance of contact with family and friends.

The position will be part-time; the employer is a microboard (small registered society built around an adult with a disability), the pay is hourly and based on experience.
Experience required: training and/or expertise in working with adults with developmental disabilities; knowledge of community inclusion and its key resources or willingness to explore; experience assisting acquisition of life skills, including managing health issues.

Requirements: Criminal Record Check, Emergency First Aid & CPR certificate, if will be driving also needed are Current Driver’s Abstract and required car insurance on vehicle.

Hours can be arranged so as to suit both parties and number of hours will be negotiated.
