Caregiver for CHARGE syndrome youth

Job Description

Seeking mature, experienced caregiver that has recent experience working with children with developmental disabilities and has current First Aid certification. Preference will be given for those with experience as a Behavior Interventionist, Educational Assistant, university student in Kinesiology or education. WCB coverage and training will be provided for the chosen candidate. Must have reliable vehicle and provide appropriate liability insurance ($3 million), clean drivers abstract, and criminal record check.
A bright 12 year old with CHARGE syndrome who requires care in own home. Normally an independent child in most aspects of living but requires extensive support to manage food/fluid intake, supports for initiating and completing homework, and OT and PT exercises. Has ADHD, congenital heart defects, vertigo, hard of hearing, cerebral palsy (very mild), a wide variety of sensory issues, very low tone, is mildly incontinent during the day, and does not eat solid foods.
We have a dog and a cat; applicants with allergies should keep this in mind before applying.
Schedule is currently part-time and may lead to full-time, beginning September 2021.
