About the person needing support: Talon is a gentle, 13 year old boy, has level 3 Autism. He is non-verbal and wears pull-ups. He enjoys playing on his iPad, playing with his toys, and going for walks.
Job responsibilities: You will be providing before and after school care. Please arrive at my home by 7:30am and help Talon get ready for school and walk him to school for 8:30am. Vancouver Technical Secondary is just one block away.
After school care is picking Talon up from his classroom at 2:30 and walking him home. You will prepare a snack for Talon and attend to his needs until 4:30-5pm when Mom gets home from work. You will have to change his pull-up if he urinates or has a BM. Talon's older sister Koda can help you in the morning, but they may have school clubs to attend after school. Talon loves going for a walk or for a drive after school.
Qualifications: I'm looking for someone who is either already trained or is taking course work related to working with a non-verbal autistic child. You will be patient and soft spoken, and observant in order to anticipate Talon's needs.
Job benefits: You will be paid $30 per hour for 1 hour in the morning (7:30-8:30am) and 2.5 hours after school (2:30-5pm). I will get home between 4:30 and 5pm. We have a very friendly Golden Lab named "Geezis," you can pet and play with also.
About the employer: I am an experienced elementary school teacher. I have a daughter who is 16 who can also help you in the morning and afternoon.
