My husband and I are looking for female live-in supportive roommate/peer mentor for our friendly and outgoing 25 year old daughter with a developmental disability to share her first home away from home in a brand new 2 bd apt in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood of Vancouver, very convenient to transit. Responsibilities include mentoring independent and daily living skills, planning and time management, and assisting with some personal care, shopping and meal preparation. Other work/school ok as our daughter attends an adult day program 3 days/week from 9am to 3:30 pm and participates in other activities or volunteer jobs. Some weekend respite, evenings will be needed. Compensation package includes base wage and subsidized rent. CRC and references required, experience living with or working with someone with a disability required and driver’s license a plus. The role is overseen and supported by Burnaby Area Community Inclusion’s Life Share network. (BACI) The move-in date is scheduled for October or Nov 1st.
