Job Title: Special Education Support Worker / Behaviour Interventionist
Wage/Hour: $20+ hourly based on experience.

Primary Purpose: I’m looking for a before and after school support worker/BI for my nephew. My nephew is 14 and has Down Syndrome. He is very happy, energetic and social. He attends school Monday to Friday and would need to be supported approximately from 7:00 am to 8:30 am and 2:45 pm to 6:00 pm daily. Full days will be needed for pro-d days and spring break. Additional hours are available. 

 

The ideal candidate will have some knowledge around children with special needs, will have flexibility in their schedule, be kind and energetic.

Requirements: A driver’s license and criminal record check.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Instructional Support:

1.     To help him learn/maintain his self-care with set programs that are monitored and data tracked. These programs will be followed through to our Supported Child Development Coordinator and our Behaviour Consultant.

2.     To focus on life skills in the home and out in the community.

3.     To focus on learning functional, conversation skills with peers and adults.

We are looking for a Behavioural Interventionist to work with a 4 year old boy at home and at his preschool.

Behavioural plan of intervention will be designed by a BCBA, focusing on developing/strengthening functional play, language development and social communication/social skills. Ongoing training/supervision will be provided on an ongoing basis.

Wages : depends on experience
Working Hours : 3 sessions per week at home (2 hours), 2 sessions per week at preschool (2-3 hours)
Start Date: ASAP
Location : Vancouver (West Point Grey, near UBC)

Requirements :

– Reliable, fun, positive and patient personality.
– Fluent in English
– BI experiences are asset
– Post secondary education in related field is preferred (e.g – Students studying SLP, Psychology, BI courses, Education and OT), however; experienced applicants without post secondary education will be also considered.
– We are located near UBC. It would be perfect for UBC students.

i am currently looking for a support person and BI for my 4yo who is autistic. he goes to daycare 5hrs a day everyday, and has in home therapy 2 hours a day everyday. i am looking for someone to have a great relationship with my son, is able to work with him employing his therapy strategies in the daycare setting, and is a fun, nurturing, and positive reinforcement kind of person.

hours would be from 11:30am-4:30pm mondays to fridays, with the exception of stat holidays.

we would like to hire someone who is reliable, and is available at a moment’s notice as my son’s schedule can change from time to time.
